NAS DRAWING WEEK 2013

NAS Drawing Week 2013 has a theme of collecting, archives and museums. We will draw in places that give scope to explore the ways that we remember and how memory reflects our participation in the present: Hill End, Middle Head, Cockatoo Island and museums around Sydney. In using drawing to explore the materiality of the past and the ways that we preserve it, we hope to be able to make work that explores the way we inhabit the present. As well as making multiples of their own objects, artists also make multiples of other artists' works (referred to broadly as a form of 'appropriation'). As examples, see artists such as Stephanie Syjuco and Sturtevant.
